Energy projects in the Upper Murray…
The Upper Murray Energy Resilience and Reliability Project (UMERRP) has grants totalling $2.9 million dollars. This includes the following:
- Three community-scale batteries
- Up to 25 community facilities and essential services
- Replacement of residential electric hot water systems with energy efficient heat pumps
Upper Murray Incorporated and Indigo Power are working in partnership to rollout the project on community facilities and essential services. This assists on improving the resilience and reliability of the energy available to facilities and services that are essential during an emergency.
Project EDGE: This is a $30M investment funded by the federal agency Australian Renewable Energy Agency (ARENA), together with the Australian Energy Market Operator, AusNet and Mondo, people can receive subsidised battery systems on top of other available Government schemes. The Department of Land, Water and Planning (DELWP), with AusNet and Mondo are running a project titled the ‘Community Microgrids and Sustainable Energy Program’ which reviews technical options to create a Corryong focused microgrid and this program to install subsidised solar, and battery and smart control systems on up to 50 homes in Corryong as part of a broader project to improve the disaster resilience of three fire affected communities: Corryong, Omeo and Mallacoota. The overall package of program is forecast to be $7M for all three towns.
