Microgrid Interest Group - Corryong
We are seeking members of the Upper Murray community to become part of the Upper Murray Community Microgrid Interest Group.
To achieve a future microgrid, the group will look to achieve the following:
Educating ourselves and the wider community on microgrids, Virtual Power Plant (VPP), Power Purchase Agreements (PPA) and other concepts in energy generation, storage and distribution.
Preliminary site identification for future opportunities using Distributed Energy Resources (DER) already installed and other potential infrastructure in the Upper Murray region.
Keeping up to date on the fast-moving changes in DER technology and regulation
Assisting in defining relevant microgrid geographies across the Upper Murray
Identifying and keeping up to date on funding sources
Advocating with Federal, State and Local Government

What is a Microgrid System?
A microgrid is a group of interconnected loads and distributed energy resources that acts as a single controllable entity with respect to the grid. It can connect and disconnect from the grid to operate in grid-connected or island mode. Microgrids can improve customer reliability and resilience to grid disturbances.

Why
The aim is to improve the energy resilience of Corryong. The project seeks to build a pathway for future energy innovation to support local people and community life, and to provide better energy certainty to the community, including during times of bushfire and other extreme weather events.
